Emmy Award-winning investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson has filed a lawsuit against the Department of
Justice for spying on her computers after reporting on the federal government and past presidentia
administration's flaws and incompetence.
As of right now, five forensic exams have uncovered unauthorized remote surveillance on her computers,
thus violating her Fourth Amendment right.
Senate Republicans currently have a net one-seat pickup, with the possibility of gaining an additional
seat at best to put the net gain at two seats.
Republicans defeated three Democrat incumbents running for reelection - Heidi Heitkamp in North Dakota,
Claire McCaskill in Missouri, and Joe Donnelly in Indiana.
However, Republicans lost the Arizona Senate seat that was vacated by Jeff Flake,
and incumbent Dean Heller lost his seat in Nevada.
The only remaining seats to be determined are in Florida and Mississippi.
Governor Rick Scott of Florida, who took on incumbent Bill Nelson, currently leads after an automatic machine recount.
Scott's margin is still so thin that state law requires a manual recount which started yesterday.
The other race is a run-off in Mississippi where Cindy Hyde-Smith is looking to fend off her Democrat
challenger Mike Espy. Neither won fifty-percent plus one in the jungle primary that occurred there on Election Day,
so we'll have to wait until November 27th for that run-off to occur.
If Republicans are able to win those two seats and have a net gain of two seats, we will have an advantage
at speeding up the process on getting President Trump's judicial nominees confirmed because it will be harder
for just one or two Senators to hold up the process.
Neomi Rao has been nominated by President Trump to replace Justice Brett Kavanaugh on the
DC Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Rao spoke to our group in 2017 at the White House and we
enthusiastically support her nomination.
We need to call Republican senators and urge them to confirm Judge Rao and the remaining
71 judicial nominees before the end of the year.
Sen. Marco Rubio (R) (202) 224-3041
If you would like to contact key Senate Republicans (Senators John Cornyn, Lindsey Graham, Charles Grassley,
Mitch McConnell, and Roy Blunt are senators that we are targeting beyond
your own Repubilcan senator), the Capitol switchboard can be reached at (202) 224-3121.
This week, the House GOP conference voted for a Minority Leader, and they elected Kevin McCarthy to that position.
This was not the result we wanted, and we want to express our sincerest gratitude to Jim Jordan for all that
he has done to push the House Republicans to keep their promises and live up to their own platform.
We would also like to thank the 43 Republicans who voted for Jim Jordan for they believed he wouldn't step back on
his campaign promises.
Now that the House GOP conference has elected McCarthy as Minority Leader, we hope that he will be th
leader he claimed he would be, in numerous, nationwide radio ads, and through other statements
he made in the press.
He will need to be tougher than Paul Ryan, and tougher than John Boehner, as he faces
Nancy Pelosi and her extremist caucus.
The border separating Tijuana and San Diego has become even more chaotic as more and more illegal immigrants
from the caravan show up.
Violence broke out at the border earlier this week as Mexican residents called for the migrants to leave
their homeland while the men from the caravan camped out by the fence creating a stronghold while waiting for the
other 2,000 caravan migrants to reach the border.
Now more than ever, we need to strengthen our immigration laws and border security.
The GOP needs to fund President Trump's border wall during the lame-duck session.
The GOP lost the majority in the House because it failed to keep its promises.
President Trump and the GOP need to follow through with their promises and remain strong
on immigration and on stopping the invasion at the southern border.
As Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents work tirelessly to control the war zone occurring at our southern
border, Senator Kamala Harris of California had the audacity to compare the agency to the Ku Klux Klan.
TPPCF Chairman Jenny Beth Martin released the following statement:
ICE officers risk their lives every day when they rescue victims of sex
trafficking - they literally save women and children from rape, abuse, and torture.
ICE officers confront the violent cartels that smuggle people and drugs into our country, including the drugs
at the root of America's opioid crisis.
Sen. Harris should immediately apologize for comparing the brave men and women - who risk their lives every day to
enforce the law and keep Americans safe - to a hate organization employing terror in pursuit of a white supremacist agenda.
There is absolutely no comparison!
"When Senator Kamala Harris compared ICE to the KKK during her questioning of Ronald Vitiello,
President Trump's nominee to lead ICE, she confirmed a deep-seated animus for law enforcement
that has been manifesting itself among Democrats more publicly in recent years.
ICE officers should be applauded for their efforts and never compared to a
domestic terrorist group. Ms. Harris should apologize immediately to ICE officers and their families, unless she wants to
further erode public confidence in her party's ability to govern."
