New York
Does she think people are idiots?
Does she think we don’t see the videos, images, guns and calls for violence?
Although there are countless videos and images of armed antifa thugs patrolling that area known
as “CHAZ”—Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone—and the occupiers illegally seized property from the city… apparently,
according to Seattle officials and the Mayor, the actions are “patriotic.”
Forget all about the violent crime…
It’s a “block party atmosphere,” so apparently, there’s nothing wrong with this blatant insurrection.
Seattle Police Chief:
"Rapes, robberies and all sorts of violent acts have been occurring in the area and we're not able to get to [them].

DNUYZ reported:
Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan on Thursday defended the protesters who have declared an “autonomous zone”on the city’s street
as “patriotic.”
In her remarks to the press, Durkan also said President Trump’s threat to send in federal resources
to crack down on the protesters was “unconstitutional and illegal.”
“Unfortunately, our President wants to tell a story about domestic terrorists who have a radical agenda and
are promoting a conspiracy that fits his law and order initiatives,” Durkan said, according to Patch.
“It’s simply not true. Lawfully gathering and expressing first amendment rights, demanding we do better as a society,
and providing true equity for communities of color is not terrorism.
It’s patriotism.”
[Um… evidence suggests otherwise.]
She was referring to an area in the city’s Captiol Hill zone, where cops and protesters have repeatedly
clashed in front of a police precinct over the last two weeks, following the death of George Floyd.
Protesters now occupy a six-block perimeter dubbed “CHAZ” — short for the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” — around the
East Precinct, which was boarded up and deserted on Monday.
The situation caught the attention of President Trump, who on Thursday demanded that local authorities step
in to take the streets back from “ugly Anarchists” — or he will.
In her remarks, Durkan said officials were in communication with residents, business-owners and protesters in the
zone, adding “it is not an armed Antifa militia, it is not a no-go zone.”
“We will make sure we find some way for people to continue to protest peacefully,” she said.
Aside from reports of vandalism, property damage and the occasional fight “no serious incidents” were
documented inside the area, Durkan said.
Neither Durkan, nor Police Chief Carmen Best, who was also at the press conference, detailed specific plans for how
to deal with the zone or a timeline for when cops would return to the precinct.

types have driven off police and set up checkpoints, is "more like a block party atmosphere" than an "armed takeover."

The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone #CHAZ is not a lawless wasteland of anarchist
insurrection – it is a peaceful expression of our community's collective grief and their desire to build a better world.
Given his track record, it's not hard to believe that Trump is wrong, yet again.

Another local councilwoman has claimed that the CHAZ occupation should be “permanent.”
Another local councilwoman has claimed that the CHAZ occupation should be “permanent.”
KOMO News reported:
As the Seattle Police Department works to broker a deal with protesters occupying an autonomous zone in the
heart of Capitol Hill, a Seattle City Councilmember said the area known as “CHAZ” should remain in community
control permanently.
The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, known as “CHAZ,” has been in community control since Tuesday,
when Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best decreased the officers’ presence in the East Precinct to allow for peaceful protests.
Seattle Councilwoman Kshama Sawant called the “CHAZ” movement a major victory.
She said the area should be turned over permanently into community control, instead of back in the hands
of the Seattle Police Department.
Sawant said she plans to create legislation to turn the East Precinct into a community
center for restorative justice.
The councilwoman wants to discuss the legislation with people involved in CHAZ, black community organizations,
restorative justice, faith, anti-racist, renter orgns, land trusts, groups, labor
unions that have a proven record of fighting racism.
Sawant helped support CHAZ Tuesday evening when she opened the doors to City Hall to allow hundreds of protesters inside.
She said the bold move was intended to uplift the diverse voices of protesters and show City Hall belongs to the people.
More than 1,000 protesters spent an hour talking about defunding the Seattle Police Department, banning chemical weapon use by police, and railing on Mayor Jenny Durkan, demanding she step down immediately.
The emergence of “CHAZ” drew the ire of President Donald Trump Wednesday evening, who lobbed a few jabs on Twitter at Governor Jay Inslee and Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan for their handling of the George Floyd protests.
Trump called Inslee “radical” and he threatened to take back the city if the officials did not intervene.
He said the officials are being taunted and played by protesters.
In a subsequent tweet Trump said “domestic terrorists” have taken over Seattle, which is in the midst of
its second consecutive week of protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
Durkan and Inslee responded to Trump’s with their own jabs.
“Make us all safe,” Durkan tweeted Wednesday night. “Go back to your bunker. #BlackLivesMatter.”
Inslee responded to Trump: “A man who is totally incapable of governing should stay out of
Washington state’s business.
‘Stoop’ tweeting.”
Once the barricades were removed Monday afternoon, and the buildings’ windows were boarded up,
hundreds of protesters took control of a five-block radius near Cal Anderson Park.
The area became a flashpoint between protesters and officers during protests.
Police thought marchers would simply pass through, but instead a police-free “CHAZ” was created for protesters
calling for reform, including defunding the Seattle Police Department.
City officials said there is no official plan or timeline for the Seattle Police Department to
reclaim the East Precinct.
In a YouTube video to her staff, Best said she did not agree with the move to hastily abandon
the precinct building.
The Police Chief said call response times in the area normally served by the East Precinct have tripled
in the three days since CHAZ’ inception — from just over 5 minutes to 18 minutes.
Secondary calls are taking almost an hour, she said.
“There’s no game plan for this,” Best said.
“This is absolutely unprecedented.
I’ve never seen people force a decision to be made to move officers out of this facility in this manner.
So, there is no game plan, there couldn’t be, because it’s unimaginable, what’s happening to us right now.
So that’s where we’re at….
Our intention is to get our officers back in this precinct.
We really think it’s important.”
Best said she’s still willing and eager to talk to those in the community.
“I know there’s issues people want to discuss,”
Best said.
“Let’s do that.
Lt’s have those conversations.
Let’s talk about how we might make things better.”
Mayor, can you point me to the City Council ruling / order on repurposing the ENTIRE AREA like you have?
Last time I checked America had #DueProcess…

“We have been hearing from community members that they have been subjected to barricades
set up by the protesters with some armed individuals running them as
checkpoints in the neighborhood,” Seattle Police Assistant Chief Deanna Nollette said during a news conference Wednesday.

Um, Oliver, even those who are supportive of the Antifa members who’ve established CHAZ
say they’re “armed” https://t.co/ryKaQRMsto
